How we wrote off $12K of dead AR in one click
The problem
DT's Palm Beach lawn crew had 47 invoices between 180 days and 3 years past due, totaling $12,140. Every quarter his accountant flagged them. Every quarter DT put off dealing with them.
The fix
- Turn on the 90-120 bucket auto-remind (every 14 days).
- Turn on the 365+ bucket auto-write-off (after 30 days).
- Preview the impact.
- Click Run.
47 invoices, $12,140 written off, status flipped to "Written-off", archived, and reflected in reports. Books cleaned. Sanity regained.
Why write off works
Written-off invoices don't disappear — they stay in the archive with a full audit trail. They're just excluded from active AR and the customer's balance so your reports reflect reality.
